Salvia Divinorum

Salvia Divinorum, by Charles Alexander

The instability of heat, deep;
the frantic humor of the clustered stars;
ribbons of dark silk cradling worry beads;
transparent roofs form from worn away tar.

Mix and match faces with organs and limbs.
Ornament dim thoughts with spiced solar plumes —
Oracular & ironic, chill, slim,
Her gaze like a switchblade, pupils that loom.

Aha, laughs this hecate, liquid & light,
Swelling & welling up, oxygen-rich
pulses & drips & drops, Morse code made bright,
a dense skyline border, staccato stitched.

Here is a hand, hooked, the heart inserted
Into the I Ching hollow of your hurt.
