Confession of Weakness

As fatigue hits, even the strong slump.
Head falls forward, spine curves & begins
to collapse. Or the head falls back, neck

arched, airway open, the vertebrae
in awkward contact with each other.
It spreads from there. The muscles tremble

or go limp, too weak even to twitch.
There is no grand lesson in all this,
just sleep, ephemeral lovely sleep.

  1. How very true. So much to see. So much to do. The body does not keep up and sleep let’s the mind continue.

  2. Every year I do this, there is at least one poem about deep deep fatigue. Hoping to get some rest this weekend along with the myriad things I have to get done … And here you are replying at 2AM! Sleep, pretty lady, sleep.
