Eggs.
White, brown,
green, speckled.
Heavy in hand
with a weight that shifts
from side to side,
balancing,
stable,
poised.

Eggs.
Fragile
when uncooked.
Albumin unfolds
under high heat,
denatures,
becomes
tough.

Eggs.
So young,
when I was
told I didn’t
have them. The doctor
just dropped the news.
I shattered,
walked home,
cried.
